The Benefits of Ballet, Dance and Musical Theatre

Build Confidence and Self-Esteem

One of the greatest benefits of joining a dance and performing arts class is the confidence children gain.

As they master new skills, perform in front of audiences and celebrate personal achievements, they grow in self-belief both inside and outside the studio.

Many parents tell us that after joining our dance classes in Woolwich, their children become more confident at school, more willing to try new experiences and happier expressing themselves.

Improves Focus and Discipline

Learning choreography requires concentration, listening skills and determination. During our children's dance classes, students learn to follow instructions, remember routines, manage their time and work towards achievable goals.

These valuable life skills often transfer into the classroom, helping children improve focus, organisation and perseverance.

Encourages Healthy, Active Lifestyles

Dance is one of the most enjoyable ways for children to stay active. Our ballet, musical theatre jazz, tap, commercial, and contemporary classes help improve cardiovascular fitness, strength, flexibility, balance and coordination while encouraging children to develop healthy habits that can last a lifetime.

Unlike many sports, dance combines exercise with creativity, making it an activity that children genuinely look forward to every week.

Creates Friendships and Teamwork

Dance is a wonderful way to meet new friends. Students work together in classes, performances and shows, learning to support one another, celebrate each other's achievements and become part of a positive dance community.

At Milli Jarlett Performing Arts, we are proud to create a friendly and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, encouraged and inspired.

Develops Coordination, Balance and Flexibility

From preschool dance classes to advanced performers, every lesson helps improve coordination, posture, flexibility and body awareness. These physical skills support children's development and can also benefit other sports and activities they enjoy.

Our experienced teachers carefully structure every class to ensure children progress safely while building strong technical foundations.

Supports Emotional Wellbeing

Regular dance classes provide children with a positive outlet to release energy, reduce stress and improve overall wellbeing. Being part of a supportive dance school helps children feel connected, motivated and proud of their achievements.

Parents often tell us that dance has become the highlight of their child's week because it provides a safe environment where they can have fun, build friendships and develop resilience.
